There are many ethical dilemmas that criminal justices professionals face when it comes to domestic violence. Lawyers, police officers, district attorneys and judges face many different, and sometimes difficult, decisions pertaining to the safety and welfare of women, children, and men. The choices made can help in some instances and harm the victims in other instances. Training of professionals is important and relevant when protecting and serving victims of domestic violence.
There is an annual Domestic and Sexual Violence and Stalking Conference held each year and many more held like these to educate individuals of various backgrounds, as well as, people in general. This post is in reference to how counselors have to deal ethically with domestic violence and those effected by it. Many professionals like psychologist, social workers, and psychiatrist have hard choices to make when dealing with the abused and the abusers.
Many of the the abused and abuser share with counselors information which has to be reported and under some laws has to be court ordered for reporting. Domestic violence is Real
Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Joyce and I am a Domestic Violence Survivor. My blog will discuss the ethics and dilemmas as it pertains to domestic violence. Eleven years ago when I left my abuser, I found a safe place for my family which began this great journey of which I am currently apart.
